Total Punk Rock is a compilation of tracks from a variety of Punk bands mainly based in the North of England. Gary (who is Calcaza Records) who produced the “Wait and See” compilation back in March is a champion of unsigned bands and obviously likes a bit of noise.
It’s got a number of bands that are very spirit of ‘76. LUckily enough not all sound like The Clash (my pet hate). My taste tends away from the ‘traditional’ punk to bands/tracks like Battleska Galactica’s Chemical Warfare which is a wonderful song mixing hardcore elements with a Prog Rock element of music and of course Ska!?! A strange mixture to say the least. They do a second track Safety that doesn’t work quite so well but still has some nice loud guitar. Junkster’s Adrenalin fits the song title very well. The Poor Kids With Guns do two very good tracks and demonstrate some great guitar work.
Twenty Five slices of noise make for a very big cake and it only costs £6.
